How to Add Lavender to Your Vacuum Cleaner

Add just a little lavender to your vacuum to change the mood on your house. Naturally lavender smells beautifully fragrant, but it is more than that. From insomnia to anxiety and depression, just the scent of lavender soothes and calms. You can spend money on pricey lavender-scented goods but the effect often lasts only briefly. With a little bottle of lavender essential oils you’ll get a longer-lasting odor that triggers every time you sweep your floors.

Wash the vacuum thoroughly. Wipe down the outside with a moist cloth. Change the bag or empty and wash the canister on bagless vacuums. Starting with a freshly cleaned vacuum prevents stale smells from competing with your own lavender.

Expose the vacuum cleaner filter dust or pad cup, as applicable to your own vacuum. Wash reusable goods with running water, as directed by the producer, or prepare a new filter when the filter is disposable.

Pull two or three drops of lavender essential oil. Drop, one at a time, onto the filter media or dust cup. Wait a moment or two to allow the oil to dry before replacing. Refresh the petroleum as desirable.

Drop two or three droplets of lavender oil on a cotton ball, either tissue or little cloth pad. Place in the clean canister or fresh vacuum cleaner bag. Add fresh scented balls whenever the scent starts to fade.

Sprinkle a few drops of lavender essential oil from the water reservoir in case your vacuum is equipped with you. Each time you change the water, then repeat to maintain the filter water.
