Transition molding, or T-moulding, is a T-shaped strip of wood or wood product which covers the opening in the door between two adjoining floors. Some kinds of floorings, laminate flooring and especially hardwood, need a 1 1/4-inch growth opening between the two floors. This opening allows for growth and regular contraction of the flooring from foot-traffic and changes in humidity and temperature. Use T-moulding to visually link two floors of the exact same height.
The Paste Down System
Measure the precise width of the door between the flooring. In case your T-molding package includes a steel monitor, measure and reduce the steel path with tin snips.
Measure and reduce the T-molding strip using a power saw to get a sharp, clean-cut.
Snap the alloy path on the bottom “T” strip of the T-moulding. Press on the monitor on therefore that the T-moulding is securely set up.
